Vaðfugl Icelandair is our
collaboration with Epal and the designer Sigurjón Pálsson. The project is
intended to spotlight Icelandic design and support the Special Children Travel
Fund, as the proceeds from the sale of the bird will go to the fund. Buying a
bird adorned with the Icelandair colors, allows you to support a good cause and
also decorate your home with a touch of Iceland.

The birds are
available in Epal Design stores and their online store.

The designer

Sigurjón Pálsson
is an Icelandic designer and writer who has received numerous accolades for his
designs and writing. His Vaðfugl birds are very popular and have been sold all
around the world. They are modeled after the beloved Icelandic shorebirds,
whimbrels, common redshanks, and purple sandpipers.

The Special
Children Travel Fund

The Icelandair Vaðfugl collaboration
with Epal will be sold to support the Special Children Travel Fund. The fund
was founded in 2003 and gives children living with long-term illnesses and in
difficult circumstances the chance to go on the trip of their dreams abroad.
The fund‘s operations are a joint effort between us and our customers. The
patron of the fund is Vigdís Finnbogadóttir, former President of Iceland. For

Vaðfugl Icelandair er samstarfsverkefni okkar, Epal og Sigurjóns Pálssonar
hönnuðar. Verkefninu er ætlað að vekja athygli á íslenskri hönnun og styrkja
sjóð Vildarbarna Icelandair en
ágóði af sölu Vaðfuglsins rennur til sjóðsins. Kaup á fuglinum, sem ber liti
Icelandair, er því góð leið til að láta gott af sér leiða og  fegra heimilið um leið.

og rithöfundur sem hefur hlotið fjölda viðurkenninga fyrir hönnun og skrif.

um heim. Fyrirmyndirnar sækir hann í hina ástsælu íslensku vaðfugla; spóa,

var stofnaður árið 2003 og veitir langveikum börnum og börnum sem búa við
erfiðar aðstæður, ásamt fjölskyldum þeirra, tækifæri til þess að fara í
draumaferð til útlanda. Starfsemi sjóðsins er sameiginlegt átak Icelandair og
viðskiptavina okkar. Verndari sjóðsins er frú Vigdís Finnbogadóttir,

Lundinn ber nafnið Puffin Pride og ber goggurinn liti regnbogans sem einkennir
regnbogafánann sem notaður er við gleðigöngur hinsegin daga víðast hvar í
heiminum. Regnbogafáninn var hannaður árið 1978 í San Francisco. Litirnir áttu
að tákna samfélag og fjölbreytileika hinsegins fólks.

Hluti söluverðs
lundans rennur til Hinsegin daga í Reykjavík sem eru sjálfstæð
sjálfboðaliðasamtök sem stýrt hafa hátíðarhöldum við gleðigönguna í Reykjavík
undanfarin ár.
