The Tired Man also known as „Den trætte mand“ was launched at the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers’ Guild Exhibition in 1935 and has since become an icon of Danish design. The epitome of craftsmanship and comfort, the characteristically curved armchair was designed by Flemming Lassen to feel “as warm and snug as a polar bear cub in the arms of its mother.” Relaunched in 2015, the award-winning design is offered in plush upholstery, including sheepskin in a nod to the original, and with natural or dark-oiled oak heartwood legs and front brass casters for easy movement. A corresponding footstool ensures further comfort.

To achieve this seamless, integrated look, a new and innovative solution for gathering the seat with the legs has been developed. The molded plastic seat and frame of oak, walnut or steel are naturally integrated with the seat using a unique cup system. The plastic seat and wood or steel legs meet elegantly, accentuating the high quality craftsmanship of the design.

The legs appear almost as if they are growing out of the shell. This gives the design flexibility and makes it possible to vary the frame in a great number of ways, accommodating a vast number of interiors. The Form Armchairs have great back support and provide freedom of movement. The strong materials and contoured shape ensures a comfortable seating experience.

With a form that is uniquely its own, the iconic CH24 Wishbone Chair by Hans J. Wegner holds a special place in the world of modern design.

When designing the CH24, Wegner chose to combine the back- and armrest into a single piece. To give stability to the steam-bent top and ensure comfortable support, Wegner developed the characteristic Y-shaped back that the Wishbone Chair is named after.

More than 100 steps are required to manufacture each Wishbone Chair, most of which are carried out by hand. The hand-woven seat alone takes a skilled craftsman about an hour to create, using approximately 120 meters of paper cord, the impressive durability, and stability of which make the chair both strong and long-lasting. The Wishbone Chair offers comfort and stability as well as satisfying aesthetic desires for a distinctive, elegant form.

Over time, the Wishbone Chair has gained recognition as the ideal chair, capturing the essence of modern Danish design.
