The Pieni Unikko pattern oven mitten is made of cotton, and it is printed in Helsinki. The oven mitten has a padded filling and a hanging loop.

The cotton used in this product is 100% organic cotton. 50% of the polyester used in the oven mitten filling is recycled.

Marimekko´s famous pattern Unikko was born in 1964 in a time when the design house´s collections featured mostly abstract prints. Designer Maija Isola wanted to create something interesting from this organic theme and designed an entire range of floral prints. Today, the iconic flower represents creativity.

The Piccolo pattern oven mitten is made of organic cotton, and it is printed in Helsinki. The oven mitten features the Piccolo pattern in two different colors, and it has a padded filling and a hanging loop.

50% of the polyester used in the filling is recycled.

In 1953, the very year she joined Marimekko, Vuokko Eskolin-Nurmesniemi created Piccolo, a striped fabric pattern painted with vivid brushstrokes. Three years later, the Jokapoika (every boy) shirt made from the fabric appeared in stores and the streets – for good, it seems.

The oven mitten is made of an unbleached cotton and linen blend. This product contains 46% recycled cotton and 21% recycled linen. 50% of the polyester used in the filling is recycled.

Unbleached fabrics, as well as fabrics containing recycled fibers, have a natural lively color and surface where small different colored areas may appear. There may be differences between products regarding this feature.

Unikko, symbolizing creativity, was born in a time when hardly any floral designs were included in Marimekko’s collections. Maija Isola, however, was fascinated by the theme of flowers and decided to create an entire range of novel floral prints.

The Räsymatto (rag rug) pattern, inspired by allotment gardening, is linked to topical themes like sustainable living and the joy of working with your hands.
