Together with Louis Poulsen the lamp was initially crafted in aged metal and the glass shades were placed at the end of a long, curved stem, in the fitting shape of a node. The stem was flexible with a tilt range of 25° downwards and 45° backwards to offer a precise lighting adjustment for the pianist.
